ABOUT

Hey, I'm Travis.

Are you in need of an experience digital media editor? Well than you're on luck because I'm just what you're looking for.

My official job title at ESPN was associate editor but that doesn’t even come close to summing up all the different facets my job entailed. And all my work is done in the social sphere as part of the audience engagement team. I packaged and wrote the push notifications that are delivered directly to our subscribers’ lock screens. The process is very similar to sending out a tweet except for two key factors: I only got 120 characters and there’s no second chances so my text needs to be as engaging as possible and sent out as quickly as possible with 100% accuracy. I also managed all the content that flow into the ESPN App and ESPN.com, as well as the fantasy pages and app.

I’ve worked as a social producer on a sneaker-specific video that ESPN streamed live on Twitter as well as writing and pitching several shows and segments for YouTube. I even filmed, directed and starred in a pilot for a sneaker show I created. On top of that I write the daily ESPN Newsletter. I have to find the best content ESPN has to offer and package it in the most interesting way possible. I write the headlines and subheads. I write the subject line on the email. I even find and create all the art that goes along with each story.

I’m very well versed in all the skills required to post content on social platforms such as Facebook or Twitter. For example I helped create ESPN’s new “SneakerCenter” Facebook page and have been charged with helping jumpstart the dialogue in that group as one of the four founding administrators. ESPN decided my skills were best utilized to reach people on mobile, on desktop and through the daily newsletter delivered to your email. I have the skills to work in the social sphere and I feel all the work I’ve done at ESPN proves that.
